Boston Globe Obituary
Aram Chobanian memories from MEC members.
“Aram was my Dean at BU School of Medicine for many years. He led the School and later Boston University with understated caring, humanity, and effectiveness. I came to know he was intimately involved in efforts to help Armenia in addition to his many other responsibilities. It has been said of many, “he was a gentleman and a scholar,” but this was absolutely true of Aram. I will miss him, as will all who knew him.” – Barbara Gilchrest
“Aram was a marvelous member of the HMS class of 1955. He went on to BU to study hypertension and never left. He made big contributions in that period. But his biggest contributions were his care and feeding of faculty and students. Armed with that wonderful smile and a gentle kindly mien, he didn’t need bluster to achieve goals. People simply wanted to please him because he deserved it. We will all miss him.” – David G. Nathan
“Aram’s smiling presence provided a spiritual glow to every one of our gatherings. I join in heartfelt condolences to each of my MEC family members, and, most importantly, to his wonderful family that lovingly and graciously shared him with all of us.” – With blessed memories, Robert Sackstein
“I want to share my great sadness at Aram’s passing. He was a terrific colleague as we shared duties during our time as deans. My wife and I greatly enjoyed the time we spent with him and his wonderful wife, Jasmine.” – Joseph Majzoub
“A sterling man, gifted physician and warm colleague. How privileged were we to have known him and shared his delightful companionship. We see the likes of him too rarely now in our world. May his memory be always with us, as a North Star” – Thoru Pederson
“Thank you to those of you from the Medical Exchange who wrote such kind words. He was such a fan of this group and loved going to events and the intellectual stimulation you all provided. As the family mourns his loss, we are comforted by these wonderful notes.” – Sincerely, Lisa Chobanian
